We are looking to recruit a UK Defence Inventory Management Specialist for a 6 month contract, nationally based with occasional visits to client sites.

Project Background
FDSS is the successor contract to Logistics Commodities & Services (Transformation) LCS(T), currently, with additional scope added from adjacent contracts including:
4. British Forces Post Office (BFPO);
5. Defence Rail;
6. Defence Equipment Sales Authority (DESA);
7. Future Maritime Support Programme (FMSP);
8. DECA (formerly Defence Electronics and Components Agency);
9. Defence Operational Energy (OEA).
FDSS is being contracted by the National Armament Directorate (NAD), with the scope to include:
10. Sourcing and Procurement / Contract Management;
11. Inventory Management and Planning;
12. Storage and Stock Management;
13. Logistics and Distribution;
The objective of FDSS is to enhance resilience, agility, and scalability to better support the latest Defence Planning Assumptions in the Defence Support and Supply Chain strategies.
Core Responsibilities
As the UK Defence Inventory Management subject matter expert within the FDSS team, the individual will work with Business Architects:
14. Applying a structured business architecture approach and methodology for capturing the key views and needs of the enterprise to capture, define, optimise, lean, and subsequently implement, an optimised inventory management solution for FDSS;
15. Describing and capturing the optimised inventory management functions, capabilities, services, and processes to identify and describe systems and information that interact with the business, and describe which people, data and technology are involved in the processes;
16. Collecting, understanding, and documenting the functional and non-functional requirements for change initiatives and translating them into business and then technical requirements, ensuring they are well defined and ready for development
17. Identifying and communicating to relevant stakeholders the impact of optimised inventory management on their processes, resources, technology, and governance structures;
18. Support the business analysts in modelling the as-is and to-be optimised inventory management processes in an enterprise architecture toolset;
19. Analysing and interpreting data and information from several sources to support clients in decision making and unlocking the value in data;
20. Supporting the development of information systems and technology architecture;
Detailed understanding of the varying inventory types and how the management of these varies through the Inventory Management System – ie specialist categories like ‘blood’ will have very different needs to ‘fire control equipment’
Experience
21. Experience with the inventory management solutions operated and implemented across the breadth of Uk Defence
22. Experience with Uk MoD process and systems for Inventory Management
23. The ability to understand inventory management and optimisation change needs and assess the business impact of those changes by driving the identification of requirements across business services;
24. The ability to visualise and create models that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the inventory management and optimisation;
25. Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience of continuous stakeholder collaboration to gather and refine inventory management optimisation requirements as well as keeping the stakeholder at the heart of design and development, implementation, and transition phases of transformation initiatives;
26. Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the business; this includes written and verbal communications as well as
27. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to define and resolve problems methodically and logically.
