Working with in Children’s Social Care Staying Close team, The Wellbeing and Network Coordinator will have a key role in ensuring the effective implementation of the Staying Close model within the City of York and link with our broader Supported Accommodation Strategy.
As a Wellbeing and Network Coordinator you will work directly with care experienced young people to support them to develop their knowledge, skills, and confidence to become active participants in looking after their own overall well-being and expand their networks of support to enable them to live independently.
You will guide and support young people to reflect on and change their health-related behaviours to help them reach their self-identified health and wellbeing goals. You will be skilled in coaching, communication, and behavioural change skills and able to work alongside people (individually or in groups) at their starting point to encourage and support them to become more engaged in managing their own well-being and access support when needed.
You will work with young people to explore and develop viable support networks; this could be re-establishing family connections through their wider family network, appropriate peer support groups or supporting young people to pursue their interests and skills in further learning, employment, or leisure and recreation clubs.
You will also provide responsive and tangible, flexible on the ground support in situations of accommodation crisis to avoid evictions and support planned transitions.
This role would support the success of the staying close model and add unique diversity and skills to the team from a well-being perspective and intervention. You will provide responsive emotional and psychosocial support to care experienced young people, providing life skills support and practical guidance in daily living activities. This is a hybrid role which includes working from home, in the community including lone working, with West Office being the main office.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
