Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Nelson
Salary: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour
Contract: Full-time (temporary)
Start Date: Monday 29th September 2025
The Role
As Attendance Officer, you will play a crucial role in promoting good attendance and punctuality across the school. You will:
- Monitor and analyse daily attendance data.
- Follow up absences promptly with parents and carers.
- Work closely with teachers, senior leaders, and external agencies to support pupils with attendance concerns.
- Maintain accurate records in line with statutory requirements.
- Provide reports and updates to school leaders and governors.
- Help foster a positive culture of attendance, ensuring every child has the best opportunity to learn.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident in using IT systems (SIMS/Arbor or similar is desirable).
- Skilled at communicating with children, families, and professionals.
- Calm, approachable, and able to handle sensitive situations with empathy.
- Passionate about improving outcomes for children.
- Experienced as an attendance officer.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
