Job Summary
We are seeking a highly competent and experienced Civil and Structural Inspection Engineer to join our team in the Northwest region of England. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of civil and structural works across various projects, adhering to national building codes, applicable regulations, industry guidance and project specifications. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication abilities to consult with stakeholders and ensure compliance.
Job Description
1. ■Conduct thorough site inspections of civil and structural works, including buildings, steel and concrete structures, secondary containments, fireproofing, pipe bridges, underground services and pits, offshore & marine structures, bridges, and other specialist structures.
2. ■Ensure compliance with design requirements, specifications, national building codes, industry guidance and regulations.
3. ■Identify and document any deviations, defects, or non-conformities.
4. ■Provide detailed reports and recommendations for corrective actions.
5. ■Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain quality standards.
6. ■Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
7. ■Monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to project timelines.
8. ■Perform material testing and quality control checks as required.
9. ■Maintain accurate records of inspections, observations, and communications.
10. ■Conduct safety reviews and risk assessments to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
What we expect of you?
Qualifications
11. ■HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent; a degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is highly desirable.
12. ■Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil and structural inspection, preferably within one or more of the following industries: energy, chemicals, manufacturing, renewables, water, healthcare and public/private sectors.
13. ■Relevant certifications (e.g., CSWIP, API, or equivalent) are a significant advantage.
14. ■Strong working knowledge of principles and practices of civil engineering, design, and construction.
15. ■Comprehensive understanding of applicable regulatory requirements, national building codes, and industry standards.
16. ■Good understanding of structural materials (concrete, steel, masonry etc.) and common deterioration mechanisms.
17. ■Familiarity with inspection of concrete standards.
18. ■Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the UK and overseas.

21. ■Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
22. ■Proficient in using inspection tools and equipment.

25. ■Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
26. ■Strong organisational and time management skills.
Desirable Skills (Not Essential)
27. ■Previous experience within the water industry.
28. ■Familiarity with inspection standards.
29. ■CCNSG Safety Passport.
30. ■Experience using inspection or asset management software.
31. ■Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and use AutoCAD
