Pay Rate: £350 per day PAYE
Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
This opening assignment is for 3 months
EDBS Required
Full clean driving license required

Summary of what the candidate must have to apply
* Strong experience working within SEN tribunals or a legal/statutory framework
* Proven complex case management experience
* In‑depth knowledge of current SEN legislation and statutory processes
* Confident representing a local authority in tribunal hearings
* Excellent written, verbal and advocacy skills
* Ability to manage sensitive and challenging situations professionally
* Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
* UK driving licence and ability to travel countywide
The role
This role leads and manages SEN tribunal cases for children and young people in Surrey who are at risk of, or engaged in, the SEND Tribunal process. You will be responsible for end‑to‑end case management, representing the local authority at hearings, and working closely with parents, schools, legal representatives and multi‑agency partners. The role operates in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment, managing a significant tribunal caseload and ensuring statutory compliance, best practice and solution‑focused outcomes.
Key accountabilities
* Manage and progress a high volume of SEN tribunal cases
* Represent Surrey County Council at SEND Tribunal hearings
* Lead complex case management within statutory and legal frameworks
* Work directly with parents, schools, legal teams and professionals
* Ensure compliance with SEN legislation and statutory timescales
* Identify and manage risk, escalating where required
* Contribute to service development, policy and best practice
* Maintain accurate case records and reports
* Support effective multi‑agency working across the county
Requirements / key criteria
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
* Extensive experience within SEN tribunals or legal frameworks
* Up‑to‑date knowledge of SEN legislation and government policy
* Strong advocacy, negotiation and influencing skills
* Ability to manage challenging conversations with sensitivity and authority
* Excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills
* Competent IT skills including MS Office and case management systems
* Proven ability to work autonomously under pressure
* Willingness to accept accountability for risk and decision‑making
