Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer

An established engineering manufacturer is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of low and medium voltage switchgear used in safety-critical applications. This Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer role sits within a structured engineering team and offers exposure across full product lifecycle activities, from concept through to production support.
As an Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer, you will contribute to new product development, ensure designs are robust and manufacturable, and provide technical support to production and customers. The position suits an individual with strong mechanical fundamentals and practical CAD experience in regulated engineering environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and development of low and medium voltage switchgear assemblies
* Support new product introduction from feasibility through to production
* Apply robust design tools such as DFMEA and functional analysis
* Produce and maintain accurate engineering documentation
* Support manufacturing, investigations, and customer site activities
Requirements
* HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
* Strong mechanical engineering knowledge
* 2D/3D CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred)
* Understanding of risk management and material properties
Desirable Experience
* Switchgear or rail electrification products
* Mechanical interlocks and drive systems
* Thermoplastic / thermoset moulding
* Awareness of IEC / BS EN standards (e.g. IEC (phone number removed)
