The starting salary for this role is £47,142 per annum, working 36 hours per week and is based at our Victoria Gate office in Woking. We offer the opportunity to work from home on a hybrid basis and are willing to discuss flexible working arrangements.

We are excited to be hiring a Deputy Area A2E Lead to join our Access to Education (A2E) service, supporting children and young people who are unable to attend school.

This is a key leadership role working alongside the Area A2E Lead to ensure high-quality educational provision for pupils where the Council has a statutory duty under Section 19 of the Education Act 1996.

You will:

Line manages teachers delivering education to pupils out of school.
Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Represent A2E at multi-agency meetings (CIN, ICPC, RCPC, Core Group, TAF).
Deputise for the Area Lead and contribute to strategic service development.
Support policy and practice compliance with national standards.
Oversee reporting, quality assurance, and complex case management.
Undertake home visits and risk assessments for new referrals.Other key activity you will lead on as our successful Deputy Area Lead for A2E includes acting as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, maintaining DBS and ID records for staff, investigating safeguarding concerns and escalating appropriately and ensuring operational compliance with confidentiality guidelines and information governance.

About You

We're looking for someone with:

Qualified Teacher Status and a relevant degree.
Experience of managing staff and working with young people.
Strong knowledge of SEND and inclusive learning environments.
Excellent communication, case management, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with families and multi-agency partners.
Competence in MS Office and data management systems.
A clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.Your Application

An enhanced DBS 'Disclosure and Barring Service' check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children's and Adults' Barred List checks will be required for this role.

Surrey has both urban and rural areas and you will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK, access to a vehicle and be willing to travel to your contractual base and across a wide geographical area for home visits and monitoring provision.
