Overview
A newly developed post has been created to join the commissioning team at Barts Health NHS Trust as the Highly Specialist Pharmacist - Sub-Regional Immunoglobulin Assessment Panel (SRIAP) for North East London (NEL). The post leads the development of SRIAP, supporting enhanced clinical stewardship of immunoglobulin (Ig) across the NEL region and coordinating Ig referrals from all three local acute Trusts within NEL.
The post holder will work collaboratively with NHS England (NHSE), the NEL SRIAP panel, and Barts Health NHS Trust to support the development of patient pathways and ensure timely and appropriate access to Ig. The post holder will also collaborate with senior clinicians, commissioners, and regional medicines optimisation teams to promote safe, evidence-based, and cost-effective use of immunoglobulins across secondary care. We welcome applicants with strong communication and interpersonal skills who can work effectively across systems.
Key duties
* Coordinating the NEL SRIAP, with Barts Health serving as the host Trust.
* Managing referrals daily from all local NEL acute trusts, including review in line with the National Ig Clinical Commissioning Policy and the London Emergency List.
* Leading the development of the SRIAP to enhance clinical stewardship of Ig across the North East London region.
* Ensuring the panel operates according to NHS England policies, including the CCP for Ig and terms of reference for SRIAP.
* Overseeing the approval and review of new and existing Ig patients; recording data on the national database and monitoring KPIs to maximise Ig expenditure reimbursement at Barts Health.
* Maintaining detailed records of panel decisions and alignment with the National Immunoglobulin Database.
* Collaborating with commissioners to establish and monitor KPIs.
* Supporting the development of patient pathways to ensure timely and appropriate access to Ig.
* Ensuring the minimum dataset is fulfilled to enable patients to be discussed at the SRIAP and that all patients meet these requirements.
* Developing relevant SOPs and pathways so patients are discussed at the SRIAP in a timely fashion, in liaison with specialty clinical teams.
