As part of a growing and agile business, our Soils and Sustainable Land Management team is looking for a Senior or Principal Soils Consultant with a broad range of EIA experience. You will work collaboratively with a range of technical specialists on a broad range of projects, lead and coordinate topic-specific input to Environmental Impacts Assessments and related deliverables, work closely with clients, develop new areas of business, and mentor others in the team.

Your specialization in environmental management, technical, or sustainability expertise may involve protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality, or noise, often in some of the world's busiest and most beautiful locations.

You will play a key role in improving the understanding and sustainable management of soils and land use impacts for diverse projects, including large energy and infrastructure developments, mixed-use schemes, and public realm projects. We promote technical excellence and digital innovation, ensuring successful delivery of major multidisciplinary projects.
Duties include but are not limited to:
* Leading coordination and delivery of soil and land use assessments for Environmental Impact Assessments
* Leading soil and Agricultural Land Classification surveys
* Conducting your own work to high standards and reviewing others'
* Collaborating with the Soils Team, Impact Assessment Team, and related discipline teams across the UK
* Managing projects or project components, including resource allocation, subcontractor management, and quality assurance
* Supporting tender proposals and bids as part of a winning team
* Providing soils and land use advice to clients and colleagues
* Engaging with consultees and stakeholders
* Developing clear, concise reports understandable to non-technical audiences
* Overseeing project performance in technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety aspects
Qualifications & Experience:
* Experienced soil consultant/scientist with EIA experience, ideally in a consultancy or multi-disciplinary setting
* Experience in soil surveying and knowledge of the Agricultural Land Classification system
* Member of the British Society of Soil Science and working towards chartership
* Good understanding of EIA and planning processes related to soils and land use
* Strong report writing, communication, and review skills
* Experience working in multidisciplinary teams with project management skills
* Experience negotiating with planning authorities, regulators, and stakeholders
* Commercial skills, including forecasting and quality assurance
* Valid UK driving license
* Desired: Knowledge of carbon accounting related to soils and land use
