Health and Safety Advisor role, Sheffield. £45,000 - £50,000 + Excellent benefits + Hybrid working
Your new company, Hays, is working with one of the leading building, construction, and civil engineering organizations, undertaking a wide range of projects from large-scale commercial and industrial constructions to civil engineering projects.
They are currently undertaking a large project in Sheffield and require an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join their team, reporting to the Head of Health & Safety.
Key responsibilities:
* Promote a positive behaviour culture in line with in-house procedures
* Assist the HSEQ Lead in reviewing and developing the company's HSEQ Procedures to ensure continual improvement
* Support and advise all employees regarding best practices in HSEQ
* Understand the responsibilities assigned to all individuals within the company's operative and management structure
* Encourage ownership and inclusion of all employees in the company's HSEQ procedures
* Assist with identifying potential hazards on new contracts before commencement and liaise with Contractors and Site Managers
* Assist and advise on the formulation of HSEQ Management Plans, Method Statements, Risk, Noise, and Manual Handling Assessments
* Support Site Managers and/or General Forepersons in conducting weekly site inspections to ensure safe working methods and good environmental practices, complying with regulations and company policies
* Maintain records of all injuries and near-miss incidents during company operations
* Assist with employee training and support the HSEQ Lead in developing and maintaining the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental training program
* Attend company HSEQ meetings when requested
* Assist in preparing quarterly HSEQ reports for their area, detailing incidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses, enforcement visits, training, and environmental compliance
* Maintain liaison with enforcing authorities and professional bodies, promoting incident prevention and damage control as essential for business efficiency
* Participate in meetings/seminars with Senior Management, Site Management, and external agencies on health, safety, and environmental topics
* Engage in continuous professional development regarding legislative changes, best practices, new technologies, and measures to ensure compliance with current HSEQ standards
What you'll need to succeed
* Valid UK driving license
* Basic knowledge of civil works in a construction environment
* Valid CSCS card
* NEBOSH General Certificate (desirable)
* IOSH membership (desirable)
