JOB OVERVIEW
Reporting into the CNI Manager for the operation and maintenance of Critical National Infrastructure Engineering Services across the National Energy Systems Operators (NESO) estate. The position is expected to be able to take ownership and rectify any incidents, planned maintenance activities, and reactives, ensuring compliance with all SLA's KPI's and site operating procedures. Therefore it is important that this position is of a senior level of engineering experience.
Main Duties
1. To be part of a Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) support team, ensuring there is no disruption in the sites critical services 24 hrs a day, days per year.
2. Ensure all shifts are covered and the rota is kept up to date.
3. All weekly data collection is kept up to date (capacity report, generator logs etc.).
4. To predominately operate normal working hours, but on occasions to cover the shift rota where there are gaps
5. To operate, maintain and repair critical MEP services in accordance with the contractual maintenance standards.
6. Ability to proactively monitor, identify, diagnose and rectify faults using technical drawings and the Building Management System.
7. Qualified and detailed knowledge of the electrical installation and testing regulations in accordance with the current version of BS .
8. Support the planning, delivery and implementation of new projects, refurbishment works and upgrades.
9. To supervise contractors, including the site induction, supervision, issuing an Authority to Work, review and approval of risk assessments, method statements and managing safe working practices
10. To monitor, repair and maintain Building Services equipment relating to heating, ventilation, lighting, air conditioning and refrigeration, LV switchgear and transformers, UPS systems, diesel generators together with the associated distribution systems.
11. Ensure all activities comply with statutory, regulatory, and industry standards, including health, safety, and environmental regulations.
12. Liaise with the NESO client, providing technical reports, updates, and assurance of service delivery. Ensure client satisfaction through effective communication and service excellence.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Essential:
13. Completed a time served electrical apprenticeship
14. Must have completed the current BS wiring regulations training
15. Must be familiar with LPHW systems
16. Permit to Work experience
17. Experience of the control of contractors
18. Full Car/Van Driving Licence
19. Ability to be security cleared to a high level (SC)
Desirable:
20. HNC in Building Services or other related discipline.
21. C&G electrical Testing and Inspection certificate.
22. Trend qualification or equivalent.
23. IOSH Health and Safety Certificate.
24. HV/LV Authorised Person
25. Confined spaces Authorised Person
26. Knowledge of ACOP L8.
Skills and Personal Qualities:
27. Regards personal and plant safety as priority.
28. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and as an individual.
29. Ability to record work accurately, both on work sheets and computer-based systems.
30. Willingness to undertake further training.
31. Willingness and ability to participate in task audits/near miss reporting/plant audits etc.
