The firm has a strong focus on modern systems and cloud accounting, and the successful candidate will play an important role in supporting clients with their bookkeeping and management reporting needs.</p><h3>The Role</h3><p>As an Accounts Assistant within the Business Services team, you will manage a portfolio of clients and act as a key point of contact for bookkeeping and management accounts related matters.</p><ul><li>Managing a portfolio of Business Services clients</li><li>Acting as the <b>first point of contact</b> for client communication relating to bookkeeping and accounting matters</li><li>Monitoring WIP, supporting billing processes and agreeing fees with clients where appropriate</li><li>Reviewing outsourced bookkeeping work completed by the firms offshore team</li><li>Providing <b>VAT review services</b> for client prepared VAT returns</li><li>Organising and overseeing bookkeeping and VAT return preparation using the outsourced bookkeeping team, and completing final reviews</li><li>Preparing and reviewing <b>management accounts</b> for clients</li><li>Peer reviewing work completed by colleagues within the department</li><li>Overseeing <b>Xero conversions</b> and supporting clients with onboarding and training on the platform</li><li>Supporting the firms upcoming <b>Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD for ITSA)</b> requirements from April 2026</li><li>Responding to ad‑hoc client queries relating to MTD for ITSA where clients maintain their own Xero records</li><li>Managing the preparation and review of internally prepared MTD submissions</li></ul><h3>Requirements</h3><p><b>The Ideal Candidate</b></p><ul><li>Experience working within an accountancy practice environment</li><li>Strong bookkeeping and VAT knowledge</li><li>Experience preparing or reviewing management accounts</li><li>Confidence communicating directly with clients</li><li>Experience using <b>Xero</b> or other cloud accounting systems</li><li>Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines</li><li>A proactive and detail‑focused approach to work</li><li>An interest in digital accounting processes and upcoming MTD changes</li></ul><h3>Benefits</h3><ul><li>Competitive salary dependent on experience</li><li>Friendly and supportive working environment</li><li>Exposure to a varied and interesting client portfolio</li><li>Opportunity to work with modern cloud accounting systems</li><li>Involvement in digital transformation and MTD developments</li><li>Long‑term development opportunities within the firm</li></ul><p>For a confidential conversation about this opportunity, or other accountancy practice roles, please reach out to <b>Kourtney Luckett</b> on <b>01483 900 940</b>, <b>kourtney@tpfrecruitment.com</b> or via <b>Kourtney Luckett LinkedIn</b>.</p></div>
