Our focus is to continually improve patients' experiences and outcomes. You will be supported by a friendly, committed multi‑disciplinary team of staff striving to ensure the delivery of excellence in every aspect of patient care. The department works between two sites within the hospital, following the build of The Endeavour Unit, an award‑winning state‑of‑the‑art radiotherapy facility.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as an expert practitioner, providing expert technical advice in treatment and particularly in own specialist technical area
* Responsible for managing day‑to‑day workload and working hours across the treatment service
* Responsible for day‑to‑day staff management across the treatment service
* Responsible for the implementation of policy across own specialist area and the treatment service
* Responsible for suggesting and implementing service development across own specialist area and the treatment service
Equipment & Technology
The department is currently equipped with six Elekta Agility machines with IGRT/IMRT capability, providing scope for expanding professional development including DIBH with SGRT, stereoscopic 2D imaging, stereotactic body radiotherapy, VMAT and flattening filter free technology. We also have a Superficial Unit and are equipped with Siemens and Toshiba wide‑bore CT scanners with associated ProSoma virtual simulation software. Treatment plans are produced using Monaco and RayStation, with Mosaiq used for electronic data transfer.
We support radiographers in their clinical development to advanced practitioner level and have recently appointed our first Consultant Radiographer.

Job Details
Band 7 – Salary £47,810 to £54,710 per annum. Fixed term 12‑month contract, Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week. Reference number: 328‑JCSM‑7439310. Location: The James Cook University Hospital, Marton Road, Middlesbrough, TS4 3BW.
Qualifications & Training
* BSc Hons in Radiotherapy or equivalent
* HCPC Registration as a Therapeutic Radiographer
* Evidence of continuing professional development
Experience
* Evidence of supervisory/mentoring role
* Evidence of experience of advanced technical radiotherapy
* Evidence of clinical experience in a range of procedures, practices & equipment including 3D and 2D on set imaging
* Participation in clinical audit/research
Knowledge & Skills
* Expert knowledge of planning/treatment delivery
* Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
* Demonstration of effective leadership skills
* Ability to work independently
