Job Description 12-month FTC Full time hybrid role, 3 days onsite General Summary The Associate Director for Alliance Management (AD AM) will support the Director for Alliance Management, the Commercial Distributor Team and the Cystic Fibrosis franchise. You will help enact smooth governance processes in the regions where Vertex has a presence via our distribution alliance network. By implementing the tools and strategic project management techniques that will help improve partnership effectiveness, you will capture and define operational and relationship risks and ensure the overall alliance portfolio value is being delivered. A key primary focus will be in the identification of future operating models in new and existing markets by conducting external benchmarking activities that will inform geographic expansion and distributor partnership scope, as Vertex continues to access more international markets. The AD AM will support the distributor selection and due diligence processes, as well as the operational transitioning of partners in compliance with Vertex's policies, SOPs and procedures. Applicants should have worked in a direct alliance management capacity, have experience of setting up joint ventures or significant commercial partnerships, as well as be proficient in the design and implementation of highly tactical plans to mirror the endorsement of go-to-market strategies. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Work closely with the Director for Alliance Management and Vertex cross-functional team to identify the best operating models in new markets, in synergy with specialty partner identification, as well as ensuring effectiveness in current markets Helping establish excellence and continuous improvement in commercial planning, and timely execution with a fast-paced environment Translating complex cross-functional team activities into detailed pictorial workflows, including Gantt and waterfall charts Consolidating knowledge of international markets (including Latin America, Middle East and Central and Eastern Europe), cultural and operational norms to leverage partnership value, manage risk and transition partnership scope in line with commercial strategy and sustainability Assisting in conducting market research and analysis to identify key market trends and opportunities, helping generate and consolidate relevant market insights to ensure Vertex addresses external customer needs Supporting the Alliance Management Director in managing the budget and resources required to execute supporting consultancy projects Develops communication plans that will ensure critical information is shared and presented in a timely manner to internal cross-functional groups, leadership committees and to external audiences Helps realize the goal of implementing partner-agnostic best practice norms, and helping roll-out newly created resources for holistic end-to-end partnership oversight across the distributor portfolio Required Education, Experience and Skills: Bachelor's degree in relevant hard science or business discipline. Preferably an advanced degree Experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, as an instrumental contributor to a range of complex multi-dimensional workstreams within a direct alliance management capacity is a must Proven experience in commercial operations; preferably experience in managing distributor partnerships and executive go-to-market planning and/or a strong background in consultancy An entrepreneurial mindset with a knowledge of business practices and cultural differences across international markets Adept at working with multiple cultures, with an understanding of key stakeholders relevant to pharmaceutical supply in either Latin America, Middle East and Africa or Asia Pacific and preferentially international experience in one of these markets Proficient in PowerPoint and at least one bespoke project management tool, with an ability to display complex visual representations of inter-dependent workstreams Strong team player and an ability to navigate and be successful in a fast-paced, highly matrixed work environment and to manage ambiguity and complexity A good analyst with the ability to extract and synthesize detailed/technical information into big-picture strategy Ability to commit to a hybrid role - this requires a commitment to 3 days a week in the office as a condition of employment Ability to travel up to 25% LI-SM2 LI-Hybrid Company Information Vertex is a global biotechnology company that invests in scientific innovation.
