Overview
A unique opportunity has arisen, due to service expansion and development in the Furness General (Barrow) Operating Department, to join the existing theatre team. We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with non-life-threatening conditions. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery, with local outreach services and diagnostics from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Work in support of and under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN)/Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) providing perioperative care and assistance to patients within defined parameters specified by the RN/OPD.
Participation in provision of a 24-hour service including shift work, on-call, weekends and night duty is a requirement of this post.
Participation in the on-call service and care of patients during their time in the Operating Theatre Department is expected as part of the role.
We are seeking an enthusiastic person to join our multi-disciplinary team in providing care for patients during their time in the Operating Theatre Department. You will help prepare theatre, support qualified staff with care of patients through all areas and participate in cleaning of clinical and staff areas. Duties include the transport of patients within our department and others.

* Provide basic patient care and document that care in the patient records.
* Support the RN/ODP and assist with perioperative care as directed.

* Contribute to the on-call service and participate in a 24-hour service schedule, including shift work, weekends and night duty.
Qualifications/Requirements
* Experience in assisting in perioperative care is desirable (as applicable to the role).
* Ability to work under supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Willingness to participate in a 24-hour service including on-call arrangements.
