Fire Safety Advisor – Education Sector

Venn Group has partnered with a leading London-based university to recruit an interim Fire Safety Advisor for an initial 3-month contract.
The role involves assisting the Head of Health and Safety by providing advice on hazardous substances, fire safety, machinery safety, training, and performance monitoring.
You will manage fire safety across all university sites, providing general health and safety advice, organizing, implementing, coordinating, and maintaining effective fire prevention measures.
This includes delivering fire safety training, conducting fire risk assessments, advising on fire safety systems, and inspecting and monitoring fire safety arrangements, including those of contractors.
Location: London
Duration: 3 months initially
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Key Duties:
* Conduct Fire Risk Assessments: Evaluate buildings, equipment, and procedures to identify fire hazards and recommend corrective actions.
* Develop and Implement Fire Safety Plans: Create and maintain fire safety procedures, emergency response plans, and policies.
* Provide Training and Awareness: Deliver fire safety training to staff, including fire extinguisher use, evacuation drills, and fire awareness.
* Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Monitor adherence to fire safety legislation and health and safety regulations.
* Inspect and Maintain Fire Safety Equipment: Regularly check fire alarms, extinguishers, emergency lighting, and other safety systems to ensure proper functioning.
The successful candidate must have:
* Experience in undertaking Fire Safety Risk Assessments
* Fire Safety Risk Assessment Certificate
* Preferably working towards CFPA Diploma in Fire Prevention, Diploma in Fire Safety, or Diploma in Fire Science and Fire Safety
