Job purpose:
The Field Service Engineer/Technician will enable the Company to achieve the agreed contractual standard of service by completing initial training in the workshop to recondition wheelchair equipment and gain essential product knowledge. After training, you will work both in the field and in the workshop delivering, collecting, repairing, and servicing wheelchairs. Most jobs are expected to be completed on a first-time fix basis. The role covers Surrey and Chessington areas.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Delivering and collecting wheelchairs from service users’ homes and NHS departments, following Infection Control policies.
2. Servicing and repairing wheelchairs in the field aiming for first-time fixes.
3. Completing all paperwork accurately, including parts used and actions taken.
4. Using PPE as instructed.
5. Undertaking out-of-hours responsibilities when rostered.
6. Adhering to all regulations regarding the use of the company vehicle and health & safety laws.
7. Maintaining a tidy vehicle and replenishing parts daily.
8. Performing weekly vehicle safety and van checks.
9. Providing professional customer service, wearing uniform and ID badge, keeping the uniform clean.
10. Prioritising and organising workload, consulting with Line Manager as needed.
11. Maintaining tools and equipment responsibly.
12. Undertaking necessary training to maintain skills.
13. Keeping the workshop clean and adhering to health and safety procedures.
14. Repairing and servicing equipment to standard.
15. Preparing P.D.I. chairs for delivery.
16. Following handling guidelines for moving and handling equipment and accessories.
Qualifications:
* Full UK driving licence
* Successful enhanced DBS check
* General workshop knowledge
* Basic electrical knowledge (12v/24v D.C. systems)
* Ability to move and handle loads safely
* Experience in face-to-face customer contact
* Understanding of disabilities
* Flexible approach to work conditions
* Initiative within role boundaries
* Ability to use a mobile for relaying photographs
* Good communication skills
* Ability to give clear instructions
* Awareness of hand-held scanners
Physical demands:
* Handling equipment safely
* Standing at a workbench
* Kneeling/crouching
* Working in confined spaces
* Using ramps and moving equipment
