Duties and responsibilities:
As a Chemotherapy Specialist Nurse you are responsible for delivering nursing services to patients within the unit. Act as key worker and work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to help create and maintain a robust oncology and chemotherapy outpatient service.
To provide exemplary planned care for patients and assist in the management and organisation of care provision in Oncology Day Chemotherapy Centre
1. Assess patients’ health and well being across a complex and changing caseload of cancer patients.
2. Assist in the delivery of care to meet individuals’ health and wellbeing needs throughout the cancer treatment pathway
3. Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information related to cancer patient care.
4. Develop own knowledge and skills and that of others in the management of SACT.
5. Promotes best practice in health and safety and security.
6. Assist in maintaining and developing cancer services.
7. Contribute to quality improvement within cancer services.
8. Promote people’s equality, diversity and rights.
9. Acknowledge the risk of Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) and understand own responsibility as agreed with line manager in the prevention and control of HCAI.
Who we're looking for:
10. Registered Nurse
11. Qualified in venepuncture and cannulation and the use of CVAD’s with evidence of regular competency assessment
12. Qualified in the Safe handling and administration of SACT (accredited course) with evidence of regular competency assessment
13. Working towards a post registration qualification in a clinical cancer specialism
14. Working in teams and case load holder
15. Work with minimum supervision within a nurse led environment
16. Experience of applying clinical reasoning skills to a range of complex and varied patient case mixes in individuals with a cancer diagnosis
17. Experience in a senior cancer nursing role
18. Competence across a range of nursing skills supported by professional and clinical knowledge
19. Proficient in venepuncture and cannulation
20. Proficient in the management of central venous access devices
21. Proficient in the administration of bolus and infusional chemotherapy
22. Posses the mandatory training requirements as detailed above, including infection control and health and safety competencies.
23. Demonstrate principles of accountable practice
24. English language to IELTS 7.0
25. Possess Equipment and Medical Devices Competences
26. Continuing professional development.
27. Competent on MS Office and other relevant packages
