LOCATION: London - Hybrid
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £50,000 - £60,000pa depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE The BBC is seeking a Sustainability Manager to work in the BBC's Group Finance team, which works in partnership with the Group's Sustainability team to deliver our Net Zero, Nature Positive, and People Positive sustainability strategy.
The role will focus on analysis of potential sustainability-related risks and opportunities for the BBC Group. BBC Group encompasses Public Service broadcasting and commercial subsidiaries, including BBC Studios and international entities.
During a 12-month fixed-term contract, the role will lead the next phase of the BBC's climate and nature risk and opportunity analysis. The role will design and develop quantitative scenario analysis models to support operational resilience, strategic initiatives, and regulatory compliance.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
Design and develop quantitative climate and nature models applicable to the BBC Group, which are aligned with best practice and support regulatory compliance
Conduct research on sustainability-related risks and opportunities that have the potential to impact the BBC and our value chain
Work with stakeholders to identify and mitigate identified risks and to realise potential opportunities - developing internal capabilities and creating additional awareness
Provide clear and accessible management information to support operational resilience, planning and decision making
Support activities linked to regulatory sustainability disclosure, working with sustainability specialists to improve existing processes and readiness for requirements
Advise on opportunities to integrate sustainability-related risk and opportunity analysis within existing financial reporting and planning processes
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Proven technical skillset with a track record of applying advanced scenario modelling methodologies to assess a complex business environment
Exceptional analytical ability and confidence working with and managing a variety of large datasets and experience working with climate scenarios
Understanding of enterprise systems and data architecture principles as required to design and deliver sustainability risk and opportunity analysis as a business service
Capability to own and deliver a complex workstream as an independent subject matter expert within a collaborative and supportive team
Strong communication and influencing skills confident across all presentation formats, with experience engaging senior stakeholders
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
Knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks including UK SRS, TNFD and common market practice in reporting sustainability-related risks and opportunities
Relevant qualifications in a sustainability-related field - experience with financial reporting and planning is also valuable
Working knowledge of the latest Artificial Intelligence technology, tools and platforms and potential applications to sustainability-related analysis
