Grow in Prayer I Make New Disciples I Serve the People of Devon with Joy
Location: The normal place of work will be the diocesan offices in Exeter with the possibility of some homeworking.
We are looking for someone to join our team to work directly with churches and church schools to reduce our impact on the environment. We’ve declared a Climate Emergency and set a target to work towards Net Zero by 2030. We’re looking for someone who believes in the gift of creation, with a passion for helping communities take action on climate change and realising new eco-mission opportunities.
Are you someone who can inspire and encourage, support and enable? Are you someone who can empathise and understand the challenges that others face, but can come alongside church and church school communities to help them find solutions?
Part of something bigger
The Church of England has adopted an ambitious target to achieve Net Zero by 2030 and we have aligned with the national Routemap to Net Zero Carbon 2030.
We’ve signed the Devon Climate Declaration and are aiming to reduce our own Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions by 90% by 2030.
We’re partnering with the Diocese of Truro and will be working closely with them on our net zero journey. You will be working closely with and complementing the work of a Net Carbon Zero Officer.
You’ll also be part of the national network of Diocesan Environment Officers with many opportunities for peer learning and support.
As a Diocese, we aim to represent the rich diversity of the community we serve. We are committed to inclusion across race, gender, age, differing abilities, identity and experience. We welcome all applications. Our church is for everyone and so is our workplace.
