The OpportunityAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accounts Receivable Officer to join a growing and innovative business operating within a technology-led environment.
This role will take ownership of the sales ledger and credit control function, ensuring timely debt collection, effective management of customer accounts, and maintaining strong financial controls. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting cash flow, reducing aged debt, and contributing to the wider finance function.
Working closely with stakeholders across Finance, Customer Experience, Sales, and Logistics, this position offers a varied role with exposure to process improvement initiatives and ongoing business growth.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Receivable & Credit ControlManage a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring account information, credit limits, and payment terms are accurate and maintained.
Take ownership of the credit control process, including issuing statements, chasing overdue payments, and reducing aged debt.
Investigate and resolve payment delays, invoice disputes, pricing discrepancies, and account queries.
Work collaboratively with internal departments to ensure credit notes and account corrections are processed promptly.
Conduct customer credit checks and support the setup of new customer accounts.
Review and manage credit limits, escalating high-risk accounts where necessary.
Produce weekly and monthly aged debt reports, highlighting key risks and recovery actions.
Manage bad debt escalation processes when required.
Post and allocate daily cash receipts accurately.
Investigate and resolve unallocated cash transactions.
Reconcile customer accounts on a regular basis to ensure accuracy.
Support month-end activities and reporting requirements.
Act as a key user of the finance system, identifying process improvements and raising system enhancement requests where required.
Review existing finance processes and recommend efficiencies to improve performance and controls.
Support finance-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Previous experience within Accounts Receivable and Credit Control.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
Experience managing customer accounts and recovering outstanding debt.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Experience working with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar.
Experience within a fast-paced commercial environment.
Exposure to process improvement or systems enhancement projects.
