Job Description: Grade 8 - £47,532-£51,522 pa (Plus £5k Market Supplement)
This is an exciting time to join Havering's Assessment & Placement Team, which plays a vital role within the wider SEND Service by managing statutory processes related to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The team has grown significantly, creating a variety of new roles that foster a strong sense of belonging, support, development, and career progression.
This role is one of four A&P Team Lead positions, reporting to the Deputy Team Manager. The Team Lead will deputise in decision-making, performance management, and other duties as required. The role involves working closely with families and service providers, acting as an operational expert within the Education, Health and Care assessment processes, and managing complex cases alongside Case Officers. The post also involves developing processes, policies, and systems to ensure statutory deadlines are met, maintaining financial awareness, and ensuring high-quality communication with stakeholders.
The post holder will typically supervise up to six Case Officers, with responsibilities in areas such as vulnerable groups or Phased Transfer. Line management responsibilities will be balanced with project work, which may be reduced if responsibilities exceed this number.
SEND Case Officers work with parents, carers, schools, settings, and professionals across education, health, and social care. They play a key role in promoting positive outcomes for children and young people with SEND, ensuring their needs are understood, appropriate support is in place, and their voices are heard.
We seek candidates with strong experience as an SEND Case Officer or equivalent, with excellent knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice. Candidates should have a passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people, knowledge of the education system, strong communication skills, and high organizational ability.
