A leading national infrastructure organisation is seeking a Head of Safety and Sustainability to drive its health, safety, and sustainability agenda. This is a high-impact leadership role with responsibility for shaping strategy, embedding best practice, and ensuring alignment with business goals across a diverse and growing organisation. As Head of Safety and Sustainability, you will: Lead the development and delivery of the company’s Safety Strategy and Net Zero Plan. Provide strategic direction and senior-level guidance to the Executive Team and Board. Champion a proactive safety culture, ensuring risks are well understood and effectively managed. Drive continuous improvement in health and safety systems, policies, and campaigns. Embed sustainability principles across operations, procurement, governance, and decision-making. Oversee regulatory reporting and assurance, ensuring compliance with ISO and other key standards. Manage and develop a team of specialists, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation. Engage with stakeholders at all levels, from employees to regulators, ensuring safety and sustainability remain front and centre of business practice. We’re looking for an experienced safety and sustainability leader with: Significant senior-level experience in health and safety, ideally with exposure to sustainability. A proven track record of translating corporate goals into actionable strategies. Strong commercial and strategic awareness, with the ability to influence at board level. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills. The ability to lead teams, drive behaviour change, and embed safety-first and sustainability-focused mindsets. Experience with performance management, KPI tracking, and regulatory compliance. Desirable experience includes: Background in utilities, energy, construction, or similarly complex industries. Professional qualifications (NEBOSH/IOSH, sustainability certifications). Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 standards and sustainability reporting frameworks (GRESB, TCFD, SECR, ESOS). Strong analytical skills with experience using tools such as Excel or Power BI. This is a FTC opportunity until at least January 2026 with the opportunity to work on a hybrid or remote basis.
