We have an exciting opportunity for a full time, band 6, Practice Educator to join us in Endoscopy.
We are looking to appoint a highly knowledgeable, motivated and skilled nurse to support the development of students and staff within the unit. You will work closely with the nursing staff to role model best practice in all aspects of endoscopy care and support preceptorship for newly qualified nurses and new endoscopy practitioners.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
* Work clinically alongside nursing staff to role model best practice in all aspects of endoscopy care.
* Maintain advanced clinical competence in endoscopic procedures including diagnostics, therapeutic intervention support, decontamination, and patient recovery.
* Ensure practice aligns with JAG, BSG, and Trust policies.
* Support safe patient flow and assist with clinical duties when required.
* Contribute to quality improvement, audits, and service development initiatives.
* Lead, plan, and deliver education programmes for new starters, junior staff, and existing team members.
* Support preceptorship for newly qualified nurses and new endoscopy practitioners.
* Maintain accurate records of staff competencies and training outcomes.
* Coordinate mandatory and role‑specific training needs for all staff.
* Provide individual coaching and performance feedback.
* Liaise with universities, clinical educators, and specialist teams to support student placements.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
* Professional requirements e.g. Registered Nurse or other relevant professional designation.
* Professional knowledge acquired through degree education or equivalent experience.
* Mentoring / coaching / education qualification to postgraduate diploma level or equivalent evidence of supporting learners in practice.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
* Significant experience within relevant field.
* Experience of educating others in a formal or informal setting.
* Broad awareness of Trust initiatives/pressures.
Desirable criteria
* Education at a master’s degree level.
* Further education at a master’s degree level in relevant practice area.
* Leadership qualification or significant equivalent experience.
* Previous Band 6 experience.
* Further evidence of speciality competence.
