Your role:
This role reports to the Head of Investments and involves fund management responsibilities for specific Society investment funds, including trading. It also shares responsibility for Wesleyan’s global equity and fixed income research. The purpose of this role is to maximize investment returns, within appropriate risk controls and fund constraints, while contributing to investment ideas and strategy through research and analysis.
In this role, you will manage our ‘low risk’ fund range, so a strong background in credit markets is preferred, although some equity holdings are permitted in our low risk funds.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Managing specific investment funds, including risk control and liquidity monitoring, with performance assessed against peer groups and benchmarks.
2. Using benchmarks to evaluate investment performance and ESG factors.
3. Deputy Fund Management responsibilities as appropriate.
4. Trading duties across equity, fixed income, and treasury for all Society investment funds.
5. Reporting to the Executive, Investment Committee, With Profits Committee, ALCO, Board, and Trustees as needed.
6. Creating reports and communication related to investments, including marketing materials.
7. Contributing to Wesleyan’s sustainable investing initiatives.
8. Participating in Wesleyan’s trading activities and investment systems.
9. Engaging in macroeconomic research and strategy development.
Additional requirements:
* Must be FCA competent for discretionary investment management.
* Holding a professional qualification such as CFA or equivalent.
* Practical experience in fund management or investment markets, particularly bonds.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Self-motivated with keen attention to detail.
* Strong analytical skills.
