Health & Safety Manager Location: Borehamwood Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 Package Projects: Major schemes valued between £50m – £150m A leading UK main contractor is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to take ownership of health and safety across flagship construction projects in the Borehamwood region. This contractor is renowned for delivering complex, high-value schemes in the commercial, mixed-use, and industrial sectors. Key Responsibilities: * Ensure all construction sites remain in a safe and compliant condition at all times. * Implement and promote company health & safety policies to prevent injury, ill health, damage, and wastage. * Maintain a strong working knowledge of statutory regulations affecting the company’s operations. * Conduct and record regular safety inspections across all active sites, providing detailed feedback to senior leadership. * Ensure timely close-out of any actions identified in prior inspections. * Support project teams in undertaking accident investigations and producing close-out reports. * Monitor and ensure correct completion of permits to work. * Ensure all site operatives and subcontractors receive a full and appropriate induction. * Verify all projects have adequate welfare and site setup facilities in place. * Review and approve risk assessments and method statements, ensuring they are suitable and sufficient. * Ensure COSHH materials are stored correctly and securely, posing no risk to personnel or the environment. * Take corrective action where staff fail to meet safety responsibilities. * Ensure statutory safety notices are clearly displayed on relevant noticeboards. * Undertake any reasonable health & safety-related tasks at the request of senior leadership. Requirements: * NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent as a minimum). * Proven track record in a similar health and safety role within the construction sector. * Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage across project teams. * Experience managing safety on major projects (£50m). * Thorough understanding of CDM Regulations and UK H&S law.
