The school supports pupils with complex learning difficulties, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), speech and language needs, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. The provision focuses on nurturing each child's individual strengths, promoting independence, and delivering a personalised curriculum tailored to meet their EHCP targets. Class sizes are small, allowing every SEN Learning Support Assistant to make a meaningful and direct impact on each pupil's development. About the Role - SEN Learning Support Assistant As an SEN Learning Support Assistant in High Wycombe, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with additional needs, helping them access education in a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment. Key Responsibilities - SEN Learning Support Assistant Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with special educational needs Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored and engaging lessons Support pupils with ASD, SEMH, SLD, and other complex needs Implement EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies Help manage behaviour using positive reinforcement techniques Support with personal care where required, maintaining dignity at all times Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and SENCOs Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to staff Transferable & Relevant Skills We welcome candidates with experience in or transferable skills from: Care work, youth work, or support work Psychology or education-related backgrounds Behaviour management and de-escalation techniques Strong communication and teamwork skills Emotional resilience and patience Ability to build positive relationships with children and staff Knowledge & Qualifications Experience working with children with SEN (preferred but not essential) Understanding of safeguarding and child protection Knowledge of SEN such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or MLD Team Teach or similar training (desirable) Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Health & Social Care, Psychology) are advantageous A genuine passion for working as an SEN Learning Support Assistant Why Work as an SEN Learning Support Assistant Through SENDHelp?
