The Role
We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Workshop Fitter to join our busy engineering team. This hands-on role involves the dismantling, inspection, repair, and reassembly of mechanical equipment such as gearboxes, winches, hot blocks, hydraulic pumps and motors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy industry, plant machinery, HGV, or crane maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
* Strip down, inspect, and reassemble mechanical components including gearboxes, hot blocks, and winches
* Clean parts thoroughly and check for faults, wear, or defects
* Repair or replace damaged parts as necessary
* Work with hydraulic systems including pumps and motors
* Complete inspection and test sheets accurately and in a timely manner
* Carry out testing procedures to ensure equipment functions safely and effectively
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with company policies
* Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding job progress or issues
Candidate Requirements
* Proven experience working in a mechanical fitting role, ideally within heavy industry, plant, HGV or cranes
* Strong understanding of mechanical systems and hydraulic equipment
* Ability to work methodically and safely with attention to detail
* Good communication and record-keeping skills
* Team player with a proactive and flexible approach
* 39-hour week with regular overtime available
* Overtime rates:
* Time and a half after 39 hours during the week and on Saturdays
* Double time on Sundays
* 31 days annual leave (including bank holidays)
