Gavia Environmental Ltd is an established environmental consultancy supporting projects across Scotland in sectors including renewable energy, forestry, utilities, infrastructure and estate management.
Our projects take us across some of Scotland’s most diverse landscapes, where we regularly work with iconic and protected species including golden eagle, hen harrier, divers, pine marten, wildcat, red squirrel and water vole.
To support the delivery of our Environmental Assessment projects during the field season, we are looking to recruit Seasonal Ecologists to join our Perth-based ecology team.
The Role
This is a field-focused role, primarily supporting environmental assessment work, with a particular emphasis on ornithology and upland habitat surveys.
Seasonal ecologists will assist the team in collecting ecological baseline data across a range of projects throughout Scotland.
While some office-based tasks may be required, the majority of time will be spent undertaking field surveys in remote and often upland environments.
Applicants should therefore be comfortable working outdoors for extended periods and travelling to survey sites across Scotland.
Due to the nature of our fieldwork, applicants should be based within reasonable travel distance of Perth, as early starts and onward travel to site are common.

* Working independently in the field in accordance with company lone working procedures
* Liaising with colleagues to coordinate survey work
* Assisting with ecological reporting, data entry and figure preparation following surveys
* Supporting other ecological survey work where required (e.g. Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, bat surveys or aquatic surveys)
Working Pattern
The role is primarily field-based and may involve:
* Early morning and evening surveys depending on methodology
* Long field days during peak survey periods
* Working away from home for short durations (typically 1–3 nights)
* Travel to sites across Scotland, including remote upland locations
Overtime may occur during busy periods, with time off in lieu or balancing of hours where possible.

* Full and valid UK driving licence
* Experience undertaking ecological field surveys
