Are you an expert data professional who thrives in a complex, regulated environment? We’re looking for an analytical Senior Data Officer to take ownership of key student data reporting processes and provide insight to support institutional decision-making. As part of the Academic Registry team, you will take a lead coordinating role in the University’s preparation for the⯠Lifelong Learning Entitlement â¯(LLE). You will contribute to statutory student data returns, taking ownership of Student Loans Company⯠(SLC) reporting. You will ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness throughout the student lifecycle. This is a varied, technical role requiring a balance of analytical expertise, attention to detail and the ability to translate complex requirements into clear, practical processes. Your role will involve Coordinating the implementation of LLE and supporting regulatory or funding changes Leading the preparation and submission of statutory returns (HESA, OfS, DfE), ensuring compliance with sector requirements Owning SLC attendance confirmation reporting, resolving data discrepancies in close collaboration with Student Finance Improving data quality, identifying issues and advising on action Interpreting regulatory guidance and translating if into efficient processes Producing analysis, reports and dashboards to support planning, compliance and performance monitoring Using systems such as SITS, reporting tools and Excel to extract, validate and analyse complex datasets Line managing and supporting the development of a team member Building working relationships across Academic Registry, Student Finance and the wider University This is a highly specialist role, offering a high level of autonomy and ownership of critical reporting processes, with the opportunity to build how the University responds to a changing regulatory landscape. About you Our ideal candidate will: Have significant experience working with student data and statutory reporting in Higher Education Bring solid understanding of SLC processes, including attendance confirmation and data reconciliation Understand current Higher Education policy of Funding developments (e.g. LLE) Be experienced in working with large, complex data systems (e.g. SITS or similar) Have strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and communicate data clearly Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy Be confident handling competing priorities and working to deadlines Take ownership, use good judgement, and communicate complex information effectively to a range of audiences, including senior managers Be comfortable building relationships and working collaboratively across teams Desirable Experience of HESA/OfS/DfE returns Experience with reporting tools (e.g. Business Objects) Why us You’ll join a specialist Student Data & Statutory Reporting team within Academic Registry, a central professional service at the heart of the University.
