Role: Power Systems Engineer
Location: East of England
Contract Length: 12 months (Outside IR35)
Pay: £400 - £500 Per Day
V7 are looking for an experienced HV Substation Power Systems Engineer to support the delivery of high-profile grid and energy transition projects across the UK. You will be responsible for the design, analysis, and integration of high-voltage substation systems (up to 400kV), ensuring safe, compliant, and technically sound solutions that support our national decarbonisation goals.

The Role:
* Deliver and review detailed power systems designs for HV substations (11kV to 400kV), including:
* Single-line diagrams
* Protection and control schematics
* Earthing and lightning protection layouts
* Perform load flow, shortcircuit, arc flash, and protection coordination studies using industry software
* Support the development of Functional Design Specifications, Equipment Specifications, and Interface Documents.
* Provide technical input to commissioning and FAT/SAT activities, ensuring system integrity and safety.
The Requirements:
* 2+ years’ experience in HV substation or power systems engineering (preferably up to 132kV–400kV).
* Sound understanding of:
* Power system modelling and fault level analysis
* HV equipment operation (transformers, switchgear, CTs/VTs, protection relays)
* Protection and control philosophies
* Proficient in design and simulation tools (e.g. DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, or SKM PowerTools).
