All About The Role
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with experience in housing enforcement to join our busy housing standards team within Regulatory Services. The Housing Compliance Officer will be focused on the enforcement of the councils licensing schemes.
You will be responsible for:
* Investigating reports of non-compliance with the councils selective licensing schemes, including unlicensed properties and other non-compliance with licensing conditions
* Managing a caseload of investigations related to housing offences, focusing on offences related to the councils various licensing schemes
* The service of legal notices and financial penalties for various housing related offences
* Investigating housing complaints and public health issues in privately rented houses
* Surveying and risk assessing properties within the private rented sector using the Housing Health and Safety Rating system, taking appropriate action to remove risks, preparing statements, schedules of works and statutory notices.
* Taking a lead responsibility for investigating complaints of threatened and actual illegal eviction and harassment.
We are looking for someone with:
* Excellent organisational and customer service skills.
* A good knowledge of legislation relating to private sector housing.
* Experience of dealing with complex legislation
Demonstrable experience of managing and progressing a varied caseload and working within a busy front-line team.
