Overview
Therapy Senior Support Worker. Level1a NHSE Brain Injury Unit
Based at the Leicester General Hospital (LGH). 37.5 hours per week.
The post-holder will work alongside Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in the NHSE funded unit. When competent, you will hold your own clinical caseload, completing assessments and devising and carrying out treatment for patients following brain injuries. This is a busy clinical area treating complex patients with a range of conditions.
Responsibilities
* Carry a clinical caseload delegated by the team with responsibility for assessments and therapy interventions in the Brain Injury Unit.
* Work with patients, carers and families in a sensitive and professional manner.
* Liaise with other professionals for patient benefit.
* Assist patients with complex physical and psychological challenges; support those with neurological conditions.
* Contribute to Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy service priorities.
* Complete administrative duties as part of role; use computers as appropriate.
* Undertake required training and work towards Care Certificate within first 3 months; education level requires Level 3 qualification.
* Core hours Monday to Friday; may include weekends and bank holidays on a roster.

Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: GCSE English/Maths; Level 3 Qualification
* Desirable: Care Certificate
* Essential: Experience working within a team
* Desirable: Experience in health care setting/previous therapy support worker role
* Essential: Demonstrates effective communication
* Desirable: Understands role of OT/PT in acute setting
* Desirable: Experience or understanding of patients with neurological conditions
