Animal Health Monitoring Scientist — York, Full-time onsite
Salary: £30,000 · Permanent
Role Description
* Leading the delivery of animal health diagnostics and screening services, ensuring high-quality standards, compliance with licensing, and adherence to health and safety practices.
* Managing and supporting scientists and assistant scientists to ensure timely, accurate results, while fostering scientific excellence through training and collaboration with team managers.
* Contributing to the development of new proposals, products, and processes, and ensuring that screening plans and reporting meet customer expectations and support future business opportunities.
* Working closely with science leads and other senior scientists to share knowledge, support delivery, and meet strict timelines for project execution.
Responsibilities
* Deliver animal health diagnostics and screening services to a high standard.
* Ensure compliance with licensing and health and safety practices.
* Mentor and supervise scientists and assistants to achieve timely and accurate results.
* Support development of new proposals, products, and processes; ensure reporting meets client expectations.
* Collaborate with senior scientists to meet project timelines.
Requirements
* Significant recent experience in veterinary diagnostics.
* Full understanding of service delivery in animal health, including molecular diagnostics, bacteriology, parasitology, serology, and necropsy.
* Ideally educated to BSc level or above.
* Understanding FELASA recommendations and laboratory techniques relevant to animal health monitoring.
* Strong organisational and communication skills.
* Able to travel to York on a regular basis; a car is likely needed due to site accessibility.
* Full right to work in the UK.
