Priory Hospital Southampton is looking to recruit an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the team. This is a Part time/26 Hour role.
Set within beautiful, landscaped gardens, Priory Hospital Southampton’s tranquil environment offers therapeutic and recovery-focused residential treatment for those suffering from a number of mental health conditions. We can support adult males and females with acute mental health needs, as well as eating disorders.
Priory’s acute and PICU services aim to allow more people to be treated closer to home and we support the NHS to repatriate out-of-area patients back to local areas.
What you\'ll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
* Assist occupational therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans to help patients develop, recover, and improve daily living and work skills.
* Support patients with therapeutic exercises and activities designed to enhance fine motor skills, coordination, and cognitive function.
* Prepare and maintain therapy equipment and workspaces to ensure a safe and effective treatment environment.
* Monitor and document patient progress, reporting any changes or concerns to the supervising therapist.
* Educate patients and their families on therapy techniques and strategies to encourage independence and promote recovery outside of sessions.

What you\'ll bring to the role

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one to two years’ experience working as an Occupational Therapy Assistant or in a related rehabilitation or healthcare support role. A formal qualification or certification in occupational therapy assisting is highly preferred. Candidates must possess strong knowledge of therapeutic techniques, adaptive equipment, and patient care practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to effectively collaborate with therapists, patients, and their families. The role requires a compassionate approach, attention to detail, and the ability to accurately follow treatment plans and document patient progress. Experience working with diverse patient populations, including children, adults, and elderly individuals, is an advantage.
