Overview
Our Specialist Community Public Health Nurses - either school nurses or health visitors wishing to transition, lead and line manage School Staff Nurses and Assistant Practitioners, to deliver a range of interventions to improve the health and wellbeing of children, young people and their families in East Sussex to:
* support resilience and wellbeing
* improve health behaviours and reducing risk taking
* support healthy lifestyles
* support vulnerable young people and improving health inequalities
* support complex and additional health and wellbeing needs
* promote self-care and improving health literacy
The nature of their work requires clinical input and effective leadership as well as good project management skills.
Working as part of the East Sussex School Health Team you will support the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme in accordance with national and local strategy/guidance.
Responsibilities
* Complete Health Needs Assessments to identify unmet health needs and offer brief interventions and packages of care in line with evidence-based practice.
* Work in partnership with partner agencies in the identification and protection of vulnerable children and contribute to the development of care plans, in accordance with local and professional guidelines.
* Undertake regulated activities to both children and adults as part of the role.
* Lead and line manage School Staff Nurses and Assistant Practitioners to deliver interventions and improve health outcomes for children, young people and families in East Sussex.
* Support delivery of the Healthy Child Programme and contribute to service development within the team.
A Recruit and Retain premium will be applied to this post until October 2026.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Clinical input and leadership as well as good project management skills are required for the role.
* Duty to undertake regulated activities to both children and adults.
* There is an expectation to drive for roles where driving is a requirement; applicants should have a full UK driving licence where required.
