Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the current team within the Leeds Dental Institute as a Band 2 Dental Clinical Support Worker. This post is available full-time (37.5 hours per week), or part-time/job share by agreement (working days to be confirmed). Core working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am until 5.00pm.

Responsibilities
The role consists of working in the Leeds Dental Institute sterile instrument store and clinical departments with limited patient contact. You will provide quality support to dental students, dental nurses and clinicians, including:
* Supporting dental nurses in daily maintenance of clinics and decontamination of clinical equipment, and providing clean equipment and consumables to support clinical activity for undergraduate and postgraduate dental students and clinical staff.
* Rotating, maintaining and restocking equipment/materials/instruments within the sterile instrument store and clinical areas.
* Assisting the team to collect and check used equipment returning for reprocessing at our external provider site.
* Working in the clean and dirty dispensaries dispensing instruments, materials and equipment to staff and students.
* Completing relevant daily documentation in compliance with statutory legislation, local codes of practice and quality control procedures.
* Working in clinical areas supporting the dental team and patients.
* Maintaining a safe, clean environment and providing safe disposal of waste and used linen where appropriate.
Please note: This role is very physical and successful candidates may spend most of the day on their feet or moving and handling heavy loads.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
* Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team (provide example)
* Basic IT skills
* Experience of working within a health care environment (provide example)
* Knowledge and understanding of infection prevention and health & safety policies (provide example)
* Good organisational skills (provide example)
Desirable:
* Knowledge of decontamination processes and instrumentation
* Knowledge of stock control

Qualifications:
* Basic Skills Maths and English Level 1 or a Level 1 pass in the LTHT designated literacy and numeracy assessment.

* Maths and English GCSE A-C or 4-9
* NVQ Health and Social Care Level 2, Diploma in Health Level 2, or Diploma Health and Social Care Level 2 or equivalent health care related qualification

Job Responsibilities (continued)
Role: Dental Clinical Support Worker. Grade: Band 2. Reports to: Senior Facilities and Stores Manager.
Key duties include:
* Communicate effectively with all health care professionals and School of Dentistry, University of Leeds staff.
* Assist the multidisciplinary team to prepare the clinical area at the beginning and end of a session, before and after treatment of a patient.
* Assist staff and students in preparation of departments before, during and after treatment.
* Collect equipment for clinical procedures as directed by the registered practitioner.
* Safely dispose of equipment post-procedure and restock where appropriate.
* Rotate, maintain and restock equipment/materials/instruments in sterile instrument store and clinical areas.
* Assist in safe and appropriate use and maintenance of equipment; report equipment/instruments requiring repair to the appropriate person.
* Maintain and stock the clinical gowns room with clean laundry and assist safe disposal of soiled linen and clinical waste.
* Undertake duties in different departments or clinical areas as required by service demands.
* Complete all relevant daily documentation in compliance with statutory legislation, local codes of practice and quality control procedures.
* Maintain a safe working environment, reporting incidents, accidents, and complaints per Trust policy and infection control policies.
