As a Teaching Assistant at St. Benedict’s, you may support individual learners, groups, or the wider class. We value our Teaching Assistants highly as they are an integral part of our team. Wage
£12,170.60 for your first year, with potential increases depending on your age. This is aligned with the National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices. Since this is a term-time role, the salary will be paid pro-rata. Actual salary: £10,140.81. Minimum wage rates (opens in new tab).
Training course: Teaching assistant (Level 3)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 3.15pm. Term time only. 30 hours 52 minutes per week.
Start date: Monday 1 September 2025
Duration: 1 year 6 months
Work
The apprenticeship is primarily on-the-job training, providing hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
* Assist in creating a warm, caring environment accessible to all children and families.
* Integrate children and parents with disabilities into the setting, promoting participation in activities.
* Liaise with parents/carers to share developmental information and highlight children’s needs.
* Supervise and care for children daily, supporting their personal needs and social skills.
* Maintain standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
* Respect and value the race, religion, language, culture, and needs of all children and families.
* Work within health and safety policies, including fire drills.
* Be flexible to cover shifts at short notice.
* Opportunity for additional hours at the TA rate through wraparound club.

Includes time away for specialist training. You will study to gain professional skills, spending at least 10% of your working hours on training or studying.
