Job Title: Senior Pricing Manager – Telematics

Location: Leicester / London / Bexhill / - Hybrid

Role overview

The engine in any insurance company is working out the correct price we should charge to cover the claims costs we expect to have – and this role leads on that. Absolutely at the heart of our pricing strategy, you’ll be leading on the development of pricing strategies with a high level of accountability on making sure we get the mix of customer value with our own commercial ambitions right. 

A small but very mighty team, we get things done at speed and have the right processes and support within our team to allow us to do this. This is the place to be if you want to make change and see the impact. 

Accountabilities 

1. Ownership of Telematics Underwriting (UW) Pricing strategies with responsibility for net price we deliver to the customer, with a view to creating equal balance between customer and company value (delivering against our pricing strategy) 

2. Hands on development of our UW Pricing models using various data sets and techniques to deliver the optimal pricing outcome

3. Analyse large complex datasets to drive decision making that translates into commercial and customer value 

4. Building and delivering robust MI and BI reporting to track key metrics and support trading and business decision making – allowing you to gain approval with our panel on your changes 

5. Grounding all data and pricing decisions / practices in clear documented principles, as well as managing and developing processes that reduce the likelihood of errors occurring always with the customer in mind 

6. Ensure the customer is always delivered with a price that is fair, justifiable and in-line with our governance and processes

7. Developing new solutions (such as machine learning algorithms) to automate processes where they could hadadditional value and reduce the need for manual intervention long-term 

8. Desire to continue learning new modelling techniques / finding new data sources to ensure we stay ahead of our competitors 

Essential skills/experience:

9. Commercial awareness and an understanding of what makes a successful and profitable business 

10. Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of individuals, both technical and non-technical

11. Advanced programming language skill (This could be R, Phyton, SQL, Radar or any other coding-based language

12. Experience of managing large datasets (storage, de-duping etc.) would be of great use

13. Keen eye for detail 

14. Strong numerical and analytical skills 

15. Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management

16. The ability to work under pressure and prioritize accordingly 

17. Ability to think strategically about long-term goals and balance short-term objective 

Desirable

18. Understanding of the insurance market

19. Working with external partners

20. Knowledge of financial services regulation, for example FCA and TCF guidelines
