Summary: Provide customers with direct technical support relative to the integration of the Allison transmission systems into the various OEM chassis. Collaborate with sales team members to support the sales process. Develop an in-depth understanding of customer requirements and issues, providing/recommending solutions to both customer engineering departments and Allison product engineering. Collaborate with controls system engineering to validate new software features and calibration settings.
Responsibilities
* Works closely with customers to identify technical and scheduling requirements, proposes solutions, and supports validation of customer applications. Activities may include, but are not limited to:
* Design, performance, and installation reviews
* Vehicle testing such as integration, drive ability, optimization, fuel economy, etc.
* OEM release process requirements
* Support in OEM delivery drawings
* Support release of BOM in SAP
* Develop relationships with vehicle OEM engineering departments engaged with Allison
* Keep up to date with Allison technical and product developments
* Communicates and educates OEMs about new Allison product developments and Tech Data requirements
* Identifies and comprehends customer needs, and drives product requirement changes and enhancements through the established processes to satisfy those needs
* Leads and supervises distributor application engineers, adheres to technical policy, and provides support in optimizing the calibration for improved results
* Collaborates with the sales team, engineers, and product managers to gather accurate information of application usage, system operations, and product management
* Recognizes competitive threats and key market trends, and communicates information
* Provides technical support and contributes to Allison sales and marketing activities with OEMs and end users; Provides technical support for customer demo vehicles to demonstrate Allison value
* Troubleshoots system applications on customer or service manager’s request, resolves other engineering issues regarding systems applications, conducts regular follow up on customer activities, and monitors the business area for new sales opportunities
* Supports and complies with TS 16949/IATF requirements

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in automotive/ mechanical / electrical engineering, or equivalent experience
Experience
Required:
* Strong technical skills and interest in automotive transmissions and components
* High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Strong organizational skills and disciplined work ethic
* High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and cross‑culturally

Preferred:
* Knowledge of Transmissions / Engines / drivelines
* Knowledge of Vehicle control systems
* Knowledge of CAN-bus systems
* Experience working with commercial truck OEMs
* Exposure to IATF 16949, ISO 26262 and/or CyberSecurity
Scope Factors
* Local role (UK) with occasional travel within Europe
* Direct interface with Allison OEM customers & Allison internal stakeholders in UK, Europe & USA, occasionally with vehicle end users
