Job summary
Companies House is an executive agency of the Department for Business and Trade (DBT). We maintain the public register of companies for the UK and provide corporate transparency, making the public register available online, free of charge, allowing individuals and businesses to make effective decisions about engaging with a company.
We're currently delivering an organisation wide transformation programme to become a truly digital organisation; with all our systems and services to be digital first, easy to use and developed entirely around our users needs. This change will need different skills, capabilities and mindset where Adaptable, Bold and Curious behaviours are the norm and empowerment is encouraged and utilised.
This role will play a critical part in delivering this transformation. The role sits in the portfolio team, within the wider Transformation Delivery Directorate and requires close working with a range of colleagues from across Companies House. As a Portfolio Analyst you'll provide oversight of the Companies House Portfolio, manage the data within our PPM tool, and provide insight and analysis to enable effective portfolio management. The role involves coordinating reporting from projects and analysing the performance of the transformation programme and wider portfolio. The position will help identify and monitor portfolio risks (threats and opportunities) and escalate them as appropriate. The Portfolio Analyst will also ensure clear understanding of what is in the delivery plan and the dependencies across the Portfolio, engaging with colleagues to ensure consistent understanding and that a single version of the truth is being utilised.

Job description
Our Portfolio Analyst will have the opportunity to:
Delivery and Leadership:
Assist and support the Portfolio Manager and deputise when necessary.
Champion the use of best practice project, programme and portfolio management standards and processes.
Resourcing:
Engage with stakeholders across Companies House on portfolio resource management requirements.
Lead the timely and accurate reporting on portfolio resource requirements.
Finance:
Project finance variance analysis of forecasts vs actuals and provide insight to support continuous improvement of project forecasts.
Governance, Reporting and Assurance:
Analyse and challenge portfolio and programme reporting data and escalate as required.
Monitor and control the baseline of key portfolio milestones.
Escalate milestone changes to the Head of Portfolio Delivery and Portfolio Manager.
Working with the Head of Portfolio Delivery and Portfolio Manager, provide accurate and timely data required to maintain the Portfolio Delivery Plan.
Provide reporting, including milestone look ahead and other reports, as required.
Co-ordinate reporting from projects and provide analysis of performance.
Maintain PPM tooling to ensure one source of the truth is always accurate and utilised.
Guidance and Support:
Develop and share best practice on project management processes, tools and templates, and benchmarks against industry standard.
Provide guidance and training to the project delivery community and other stakeholders on scheduling best practice.
Planning and Scheduling:
Maintain, monitor and continuously improve the Portfolio Delivery Plan.
Recognise, record and track key portfolio dependencies.
Provide SME support in scheduling to Project Managers.
Assuring the quality of project schedules and scheduling contents of business cases.
Setting and maintaining project schedule baselines.
Project Pipeline:
Work with SROs and Project Managers to ensure that information on the project pipeline is accurate and up to date.
Risk and Opportunity Management:
Maintain the Portfolio RAID log.
Identify portfolio risks (threats and opportunities) and raise as appropriate.
Provide analysis and insight on Risk and Issues across the portfolio Stakeholder Management.
Stakeholder Management:
Manage and engage with a wide range of internal stakeholders.

Experience
Were looking for a Portfolio Analyst with experience of:
Working in a PMO or project/portfolio management environment.
Proactively planning and prioritising work and managing multiple activities in order to meet deadlines

Successful candidates from the sift stage will be invited to attend a virtual interview, which will conducted using Microsoft Teams.
We use a blended interview technique, allowing us to find out more about you.

There will be a an activity as part of the interview process.This will be a scenario based activity provided at the start of your interview slot which will assess your experience of planning, scheduling and risk management in a project, programme or portfolio environment.
