Band 5 Electrician
Location: Whiteabbey Hospital - Based
Salary: £ per hour (£31,049 per year)
Hours: hours per week - Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Band 5 Electrician to join our engineering team. The post holder will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of complex electrical and electronic engineering systems. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintain, inspect, and repair complex electrical and/or electronic systems to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
2. Diagnose faults and carry out corrective actions in line with engineering standards and safety regulations.
3. Prepare and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and system updates.
4. Comply with all health and safety, electrical safety, and regulatory requirements.
5. Collaborate with colleagues, contractors, and other departments to support engineering projects and operational needs.
6. Assist with planning and implementing preventative maintenance schedules.
7. Provide technical guidance to junior staff or apprentices as required.
8. Participate in audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must possess:
9. A recognised and registered CITB or BITB apprenticeship or approved company apprenticeship.
10. City and Guilds 236 Part 2, NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent formal qualification.
11. At least 4 years relevant post-apprenticeship experience, with a minimum of 2 years spent maintaining complex electrical and/or electronic engineering systems.
Desirable Criteria
12. Experience working with a range of electrical and electronic systems in industrial, commercial, or healthcare settings.
13. Strong knowledge of safety regulations, engineering standards, and best practices in electrical maintenance.
Driving
14. Hold a current full UK driving licence - as driving is required for the role
