We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated Band 5 Staff Nurse with enthusiasm and drive to join our team in the Urology Investigation Suite.
Main duties of the job
The unit is dedicated to carrying out a range of day case outpatient procedures, including endoscopic investigations of the lower urinary tract. This could be simple cystoscopy for diagnosis or surveillance. Minor bladder or urethral procedures including LASER ablation of bladder tumours. We routinely support Diagnostic Nurses and Drs undertaking prostate biopsy procedures. In addition we run a range of nurse led clinics including intravesical chemotherapy and immunotherapy instillations urodynamics, uroflowmetry, and intermittent self catheterisation teaching, changes of indwelling urethral and suprapubic catheters (full training will be provided). We also support the Urology Ward, UAU and A&E undertaking a range of emergency procedures.
In the staff nurse role you will support Drs and Clinical Nurse Specialists in clinical activity and manage your own nurse led clinical activity.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse and hold active registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
* Diploma/Degree level qualification relevant to role
* Professional qualification and knowledge of patient assessment, planning, developing and implementing programmes of care
* Evidence of mandatory and statutory essential training skills, for example, Basic Life Support, manual handling, infection control, fire etc
* Post Graduate qualification at Degree level relevant to role to demonstrate clinical skills
Experience
* Experience in nursing care, knowledge and expertise acquired through training
* Demonstrate experience of providing nursing care in the healthcare setting
* NHS experience or relevant health care organisation
Skills
* Professional clinical knowledge skills and skills that demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, develop and implement programmes of care
* Ability to apply professional judgement and problem solve
* Able to support learners and clinical supervision of junior staff.
* Able to support mentors in decisions related to students/learners and make judgements regarding competence and fitness to practice.
