To provide high quality and effective clinical care in the transfer of adult critical care patients, when appropriate using additional skills within competency framework and emergency driving skills. Supporting pre-hospital incidents when necessary and other allocated operational duties commensurate with the role and responsibilities, supporting the provision of clinical, social and holistic care to patients in a pre-hospital and transfer environment, safely and within appropriate level of training and competency.
Be accountable for the assessment, treatment, diagnosis, supplying and administering of medicines, managing, discharging and referring patients in a range of urgent, emergency, critical or out of hospital settings. Provide effective clinical leadership, development and mentorship to operational personnel to support the delivery of a high-quality patient centred service. Contribute to the development of an integrated approach to the delivery of care involving external organisations.
To act in accordance with Trust policies, procedures and protocols, Paramedic/Ambulance Nurse and Transfer Practitioner scope of practice, appropriate sections of the Joint Royal Colleges Ambulance Liaison Committee (JRCALC) guidelines and current legislation at all times.
Main duties of the job
* Carry out paramedic/ambulance nurse and transfer practitioner duties commensurate with national clinical practice guidelines and Trust specific PGD’s and guidelines.
* Make appropriate use of equipment which you are trained on, which may include various types of vehicles, diagnostic, invasive and therapeutic equipment.
* Successful candidates will also be supported to undertake advanced courses such as Adult Advanced Life Support (ALS) and a Difficult Airway’s management course.
* Working closely with the Transfer Service Consultants / Senior Speciality Trainees and referring and receiving Consultants/Specialty Trainees in planning and executing the safe and efficient transfer of patients that meet the service scope for transfer.
* Co-ordinated activity in line with the ACCT service policy and, clinical and operational operating procedures.
* Full engagement and completion of the adult critical care Transfer Practitioner (TP) training programme.
* Full participation in clinical governance activities i.e. clinical supervision, escalation procedures.
* To undertake CPD and training as identified by the ACCTS leadership team in line with the developing service needs.
* To develop in the four pillars of post-graduate practice (Clinical, Research, Leadership & Education).
* Undertake project work in keeping with role as directed by the ACCTS leadership team.

Person specification
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
* HCPC registered Paramedic or, NMC Registered Nurse, who has completed SCAS Ambulance Nurse training and portfolio.
* Completion of Newly Qualified Paramedic Process or equivalent experience.
* 3 GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths, or equivalent qualification.
* Educated to degree/diploma level in Paramedicine or equivalent experience.
* Full UK Driving Licence and C1. We will consider applications who have up to 3 points dependant on the nature of the offence. The Trust motor insurers would not entertain inclusion of any applicants who have had their driving licence removed following a Dangerous Driving or Drink or Drugs offence for a minimum period of 5 years from when their licence is reinstated. Each case would need to be passed to Trust brokers / insurers in order for the individual circumstances to be taken into account.
* BTEC3 Advanced and Emergency driving or equivalent qualification
* Evidence of up-to-date self-development CPD / Portfolio
* Mentorship qualification
Desirable criteria
* RCUK ALS
* Difficult Airways Society course or equivalent advanced airway/ventilation qualification

* Experience of supervision, mentorship and development of a range of clinical staff in relevant practice settings.
