Clinical Team Lead – Bedford Adult Community Mental Health Service

As the Clinical Lead (Mental Health Nursing) for the team you will be responsible for the day to day management and leadership of the team, working alongside the Clinical Lead (Social Work) and with the Operational Manager to ensure safe and effective implementation of service developments relevant to the team. You will be responsible for ensuring safe and effective management of operations in the team, while providing clinical leadership specifically with regards to the Moderate to Severe Mental Health.

As well as the day to day leadership of the team, you will also be responsible for supporting clinical staff to take complex decisions regarding the planning and development of programmes of care.

Your role will be to ensure the service provided by the team is well organised, evidence based, recovery focused, socially inclusive and person centered, with clear clinical outcomes.

You will be required to work closely with the Operational Manager and Assistant Director to develop the team in line with commissioner requirements and Trust objectives, consulting all key stakeholders, and positively reinforcing the expectations of the organisation through collaborative and dynamic management and leadership that is both supportive and encouraging in nature to enable the team to adapt to key changes smoothly. You will have a lead role in the development of core team policies and local operating procedures.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. •Registered Professional – Mental Health Nurse, with current registration with NMC.
2. •Evidence of post registration continue professional development, qualifications or equivalent experience
3. •Educated to degree level or equivalent experience

Desirable criteria

4. •Nurse mentor
5. •Nurse Prescriber
6. •AMHP

Experience

Essential criteria

7. •Previous experience of working within a community mental health setting as a registered Mental Health Nurse and case load management
8. •Previous experience of managing others and functioning as a team member
9. •Previous experience of Management and Clinical Supervision of others, including annual appraisal
10. •Previous experience of organisational change
11. •Previous experience of service development, quality improvement and of bringing innovation and new ideas to practice
12. •Previous experience of working within the NHS and with senior allied professionals, internal and external stake holders
13. •Previous experience delivering therapeutic interventions such as PSI/ CBT etc.
14. •The ability to assertively engage resistant service users with complex clinical needs & associated risks

16. •Computer literacy

Knowledge

Essential criteria

25. •Excellent knowledge of current and relevant local and national agendas that impact upon community mental health services and the wider health and social care system and the ability to understand and disseminate this knowledge to others.
26. •Sound knowledge and understanding of recovery principles and NICE guidance in relation to mental health community services and the ability to ensure that evidence based practice with clear clinical outcomes is embedded into practice
27. •Very good understanding of of the Mental Health Act (1983/ 2007/ 2014/5), Care Act (2014), relevant national standards, No Health without Mental Health (2011) and other relevant national policies
28. •Demonstrate a knowledge base for substance misuse and associated risks
