Assistant Store Manager (JD Group)
Over the past 40 years, JD Group has grown into a leading omni‑channel retailer of sports fashion, outdoors and gyms. We are looking for an Assistant Manager to help lead our stores and drive sales and KPI achievement while delivering exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
* Support the Store Manager in running all store operations and meeting or exceeding sales & KPI targets.
* Set clear sales goals, track performances and evolve processes to ensure continuous store growth.
* Create a positive team culture through recruiting, training and continuous staff development.
* Build a motivated, high‑performing team to increase store success.
* Analyze sales data and financial reports to make quick, well‑informed decisions and identify opportunities.
* Act as point of contact for colleagues in the manager’s absence.
* Provide excellent customer service, address inquiries and resolve complaints professionally.
* Help manage day‑to‑day operations, including opening and closing procedures.
* Support cash management tasks such as processing transactions and reconciling tills.
* Participate in hiring, onboarding and training of new employees.
* Provide feedback and coaching to colleagues to improve performance.
* Support the Store Manager in maintaining colleague schedules to ensure proper coverage and productivity.
Role Objectives & KPIs
* Contribute to achieving or exceeding the store’s monthly sales target.
* Drive additional KPIs including Units, Conversion, ATV, UPT, upselling and cross‑selling targets.
* Maintain a high Net Promoter Score.
* Ensure stock accuracy during store audits.
* Ensure all new colleagues complete mandatory training.
* Ensure employee satisfaction and engagement survey results meet or exceed company benchmarks.
* Assist in keeping operational costs within the allocated budget.
Skills & Experience
* Previous supervisory or management experience in a fast‑paced retail/customer‑facing environment.
* Passionate about retail with a good understanding of the latest trends and competitors.
* Previous experience coaching and developing individuals.
* Strong communication skills.
* Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets and KPI’s.
* Experience analyzing KPI data to make commercial decisions.
* Attention to detail and commercial mindset.
* Experience in visual merchandising is advantageous.
