Assistant Educational Psychologist – Mid Essex

Position: Assistant Educational Psychologist - Mid Essex

Contract: Fixed Term, Full Time

Salary: £35,228 per annum

Location: Chelmsford

Working Style: Anywhere worker

Overview

Are you a psychology graduate eager to pursue a career in educational psychology? This fixed term/secondment opportunity offers a pathway to doctoral training as an Educational Psychologist and involves a blend of remote and office-based work.


The Role

An Assistant Educational Psychologist is a psychology graduate from a British Psychological Society accredited undergraduate programme or conversion course who is gaining applied experience in a relevant professional setting and assisting with the work of at least one Practitioner Psychologist, under their supervision. The role enables the development of a range of experiences and skills in preparation for progression to doctoral training in Educational Psychology. Occasional attendance at Essex County Council offices may be required.


What you’ll be doing

* Deliver Educational Psychology Services: Support the delivery of an educational psychology offer in Essex under supervision and line management.
* Professional Development: Support the acquisition of skills and experience for professional training; participate in supervision and undertake further development.
* Team Collaboration: Assist the Psychology team in providing a responsive, professional service for children and young people aged 0-25; work with colleagues to achieve objectives.
* Psychological Services: Assist qualified colleagues in providing psychological assessment, advice, consultation, training and intervention.
* Professional Competence: Work within professional boundaries and current knowledge.
* Safeguarding: Comply with safeguarding procedures to protect children and young people.
* Data and Compliance: Adhere to data storage, governance and health and safety requirements; comply with statutory duties.
* Performance Management: Meet targets within the performance framework.
* Assessment and Reporting: Gather information through direct work with children and staff; write accessible short reports and maintain accurate records.
* Interventions and Research: Contribute to planning and delivery of evidence-informed interventions and data collection.
* Service Improvement: Contribute to ongoing service development.


About you

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; high ethical standards, integrity and reliability.
* Ability to build collaborative working relationships and drive delivery.
* Knowledge of SEN and related legislation affecting children and young people.
* Self-motivated with the ability to develop within the role and enhance skills.
* Experience of working with children in educational or family-oriented settings; interest in applying psychology to SEN/Disability.


Essential requirements

* Degree in psychology (2:1 or above) or an approved conversion course or Master’s degree accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
* Eligibility for the BPS Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC).
