We have been at the heart of the community in Derbyshire since 1847. While the scope of our work has changed considerably over the years, our vision hasn’t. Every year, we support over 300 individuals in our housing provision, enabling them to grow their confidence and move into education, training, employment and into independent living. Alongside this we provide a whole host of youth and community services including our own community gardens. We also provide training and education to 150 young people each year who find mainstream education more difficult, as well as high-quality childcare within our community.

Our team works hard to provide as much care and support for those who need it most, every day we make a difference.

Position:

Administrator and Learner Wellbeing Assistant

Based: Derby City/Ilkeston

Salary: £11,657.10 PA (£12.81PH)

Hours: 17.5Hours Per Week

We’re looking for a dedicated Administration and Learner Wellbeing Assistant to join our team and play a vital role in both the smooth running of our office and the wellbeing of our students. In this rewarding role, you’ll be the first point of contact for learners seeking support, while also ensuring key administrative processes are efficient, accurate, and student focused. If you’re someone who can combine attention to detail with a caring and approachable attitude, we’d love to hear from you.

In order to change lives YMCA Derbyshire run and market a number of commercial and support services to support a whole range of different young people.

We are seeking a creative thinker with a ‘can-do’ attitude and an ability to influence others to use our services.

Requirements:

Ideally you will have the following: -

Basic understanding of office procedures and systems


* Record-keeping and file management
* Knowledge of data protection and confidentiality (e.g., GDPR)

IT & Digital Literacy

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
* Experience with databases and/or student management systems (like SIMS,

ProMonitor, or equivalent) E

Education and Safeguarding

* Basic understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies
* Awareness of learner wellbeing and mental health support services
* Familiarity with inclusivity, equality, and diversity principles in education

Customer Service

* Knowledge of front-facing support, dealing with enquiries from students, parents,

and staff.

Communication Protocols

* Understanding of professional communication styles (email, phone, in person)
* Internal communication tools (e.g., Teams, Zoom, Slack)

A driving license and use of own car is essential as there will be an expectation to work across numerous sites.

The appointment is subject to YMCA Derbyshire receiving two satisfactory references, an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and a six-month probationary period.
