As part of the regions senior leadership team, the Finance Manager will be responsible for the overall financial stewardship of the region. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with experience in the construction sector. The opportunity not only encompasses the day-to-day financial management of the business but also presents a commercial candidate with the opportunity to help shape the future land strategy and growth of the business. Depending on the candidate, the role can be based in either the regional office in Westhill, Aberdeen or the Cala Group head office in Edinburgh. In either case regular travel between these locations will be required. This is a hands-on finance role that requires a commercially minded individual with commitment and drive. The role reports directly to the regional Managing Director but will require a direct relationship with the Group Finance Director and CFO. The role will also entail line management of a regional accountant, based in Edinburgh. Responsibilities Lead financial budgeting process via Anaplan forecasting software. Submission of flash HY & FY projections and short term cash forecasts. Support the land Director in the delivery of new land investment proposals, reviewing the underlying assumptions within the site appraisal. Play a leading role in cash flow management, both in terms of revenue collection, site expenditure and WIP management. Actively participate in monthly site CVR and regional build/ sales meetings, providing challenge and financial perspective. Review of monthly management accounts as prepared by regional accountant. Assist the year end audit process, with direct interactions with our external auditors KPMG. Review and authorization of subcontractor & supplier payment runs. Ensuring financial processes are adhered to, identifying and implementing process improvements over time. Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis and present findings to the regional board and Head Office. Ensure regional compliance with group tax policies, including SDLT, VAT & CIS. About You The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with experience in the construction sector. Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required, with experience of financial forecasting and general ledger software beneficial. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to manage multiple financial processes and meet deadlines. Strong leadership skill as well as direct report supervision capabilities. Qualifications Qualified accountant (ICAS/ ACCA or equivalent) with >5 years post-qualification experience. We recognise that a diverse team makes us a stronger and more successful company.
