We are currently seeking a QS/Estimator to join our dynamic team and play a key role in our ongoing growth and success.
Key Responsibilities:
* Estimating & Tendering:
Prepare accurate cost estimates for a range of construction projects (valued between £200k and £2m), utilising quantity take-offs, market research, and standard cost data.
* Procurement & Purchasing:
Source and negotiate prices with suppliers, ensuring competitive rates and timely delivery of materials. Manage purchase orders, inventory, and supplier relationships.
* Subcontractor Engagement:
Obtain and evaluate subcontractor quotes, negotiate terms, and coordinate contracts to achieve optimal cost and quality outcomes.
* Valuations & Cost Control:
Conduct on-site valuations to monitor project costs, identify potential overruns, and recommend cost-saving strategies.
* Budget Management:
Work closely with project managers to track project budgets, perform cost analysis, and forecast expenditure throughout each project’s lifecycle.
* Risk & Compliance:
Ensure all procurement activities comply with relevant construction regulations, contract requirements, and health & safety standards.
* Collaboration & Reporting:
Liaise with architects, site managers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary project information. Present detailed cost reports and progress updates to senior management.
Skills & Qualifications:
* Proven experience in estimating, buying, or quantity surveying roles within the UK construction sector.
* Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, including vendor negotiation and contract management.
* Familiarity with construction software and estimating tools (e.g., Excel, industry-specific estimating software).
* Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams.
* Attention to detail and a strong focus on cost efficiency.
* Relevant qualifications in Construction, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline (preferred).
